The Violence of Fruit

I chose a firm, flawless, beautiful pear from the fruit bowl on the counter to take to work to eat for breakfast.

And I got here, and it looked as though, in transit, it was mugged.

Now, I will end up eating it out of pity rather than desire, and that's tragic.
