I did not light anything on fire this year, though I was tempted to put on the fireplace. However, we have the heater cranked up to 72 (because I'm home all day and because the fish is here, too), so it's plenty of warm in the house this week. Also, frequently the thing lit on fire is the special dinner....

I don't know the difference between a "rite" and a "tradition" in my family sometimes. Jingle Bells seems a bit like both-- it's not Christmas without it.

I miss the communal music-making.... one tradition that John is not interested in sharing.
