Saturday morning we were up early-ish, having fallen asleep very early Friday night. We made ourselves a tasty brekkie and showered, played a round of Munchkin, then headed out to Big Basin park, about 10 miles from our house. The 2+ mile hike (up and down a little mountain) was gorgeous. We must have seen about a dozen different species of mushroom as we walked along talking about how nice it will be once the winter rains have stopped and we can get back on our motorcycles again.
We got home and I called my father's house, knowing that the entire family would be there. Fortuitous timing, as Peaches had just arrived there with my family stash of prezzies. Everyone was pleased about the case of jalapeno jam we'd put in. I think it's time to make some more, along with that fig spread for which I cut and dried a zillion figs a couple of months ago. Mike's gift, the bucket of money, was a huge hit. My nephew is 24 and always broke, and money is always appreciated. That it came in a bucket was, apparently, a bonus. Pop loved the mermaid sculpture (not a big risk for me, their entire house is covered with mermaids) and Jenbo loved the Dia de Muertos t-shirt. All in all, I was told that we had done exceptionally well this year picking out prezzies for others.
We have yet to open a single gift. The Baby Goddess gets back tonight, but Peaches won't be back until the 29th, and it would be wrong to do her out of being part of the fun. pirateguillermo's parents are coming up the 29th, so we'll wait until then to have our Xmas. The funny thing is, I'm not at all curious about what I might have gotten. There's not a single thing I need, so it's less a response to some need of mine and more an expression of people's love for me that I got anything at all, so whatever is in the packages is a bonus on top of that.
It's been a wonderful holiday. Now, back to work. I've a ton of things to do.
