A Common Fallacy

For some reason, it has long been the notion of the rest of the world that All Geeks Are Smart. The sort of people who live for Star Wars, D&D, all the Star Trek spinoffs. Socially retarded, yes. Emotionally stunted, sure. But really good at the practical application of math and science.

It's a lie. They're not smart. Not at all.

Those people are Not Geeks. I have to come up with a word for idiots like this. Gays have metrosexual and fauxmosexual to categorize pretenders, and Geeks need a similar set of categories, so as to maintain our reputation for intelligence and perspicacity.

It's like, trying to be smart but failing because your head is up your ass. Like...perspisnackity.

Well, to prove their stupidity, they would need to claim that "Star Wars Made Us Do It!"

These are not geeks. These are sad poseurs and, while I hope they recover from their injuries I sincerely hope they do not breed more of their kind.

Geeks would have figured out how to make flaming light sabers without injuring themselves if that was what they wanted to do. Of course, Geeks who want to make light sabers DON'T PUT GASOLINE IN FLOURESCENT LIGHT TUBES AND SET THEM ON FIRE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

There. I feel better now.

You have just hit on the saddest configuration of words in the English language.

Geek poseur.

See, I frequently describe myself as a Geek Wannabe, since I have the interests but not necessarily the knowledge; more often than not there are conversations on subjects like coding that I can more or less follow if not keep up. And I have sincere doubts about the level of my intelligence sometimes. Just not enough to qualify for the Darwin Awards.

Just imagine I'm using a pic with an otter covering his face with one paw.

These are geeks from the UK. I am sure there is a one for one exchange rate.
