Teen Romance

Peaches is in the first stages of her first Big Romance. I know the boy, the LaCrosse Player. He's a year older than she is, 15 to her 14. He's a high school freshman at a different school, and he's the only freshman who's on all the varsity teams - football, soccer, lacrosse. We know him because his family are also Buddhists, so we see them at a lot of meetings. LaCrosse Player's a good kid. He's a leader in the Youth Division, he's a good student and he's just the right kind of rascal (one night during evening prayers he was giggling at the back of the room, and when I looked over, I realized it was because he had a kitten in his coat pocket that had woken up and was trying to figure out how to get out). He's also polite. When her other friends call the house, they say "Is Peaches there?" without a hello or introduction of any kind, prompting me to yell into her room without covering the phone's mouthpiece "Peaches, one of your rude friends would like to speak to you." This one calls and says "Hi, this is LaCrosse Player. May I speak to Peaches?" It makes my heart go pitty-pat to hear a person under the age of 25 who knows how to use the phone. He's also very good-looking. He bears a striking resemblance to William Moseley who played Peter in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

So...he's smart, he's polite, he's ambitious, he's good-looking and I know and like his family. This relationship is SO doomed....
