Saturday we cleaned and shopped and took care of various chores in preparation for Peaches birthday slumber party. I know, my parents arrived on the 13 to start celebrating and it's now the 23rd and the celebrations are unlikely to stop until this weekend, but it's like keeping the spirit of Christmas all year long - birthdays should come with a 10-day Bacchanalia.
Our house was duly invaded by 13- and 14-year-old girls, and come morning, after all all-night orgy of pizza, soda, cake and candy, my child asked with a completely straight face if I'd take her to the doctor. Yes, I laughed right out loud.
Sunday, blythe025 and alleahna and her husband came over for movies, dim sum and silly games. And man, there were movies, there was dim sum, there were silly games. This is a group who cuts no slack for anyone. At one point, when the Pirate looked to be close to winning, the entire group dogpiled on him in a manner that forced his retreat and occasioned raised eyebrows from him for the remainder of the afternoon. No blood, however, was shed. All in all, we had a fabulous time, and I think that our next venture will be SAUSAGE MAKING!! Chicken/apple/cranberry sausage. And we'll eat it with garlic mashed potatoes and other yummies and play more games. I'm not entirely sure when this will happen, but it'll be good.
