A [Figurative] Chicken Comes Home to Roost

I won second prize in the Sheila K. Smith Short Story Prize contest. I got the notice today, and felt bad that I got home too late to call anyone to yell about it.

There will be a reception and reading on Sunday, March 12 at the Koret Auditorium of the San Francisco Main Library, Civic Center. The program starts at 1:00 pm and is free and open to the public. I would love it if any of you could come and listen to me read.

And, as a "thank you" speech, I would like to thank alleahna who was there when I wrote this story and told me that she thought it was perfect as is. Yes, I did do a little editing, but to hear that was the encouragement I needed to let other people see it. Thank you.

Congratulations and you are more than welcome! I've added it to my calendar and I'll see if I can get HubbyDude to come along, as well. I'm so proud of you!

I am going to try to make it. If my husband isn't working, I bet he would love to come. AWESOME! So proud of you. Great news. Can I read it? Posted anywhere?
