Horror and Outrage

My mind wants this not to be true. It's too horrible to accept.

After acknowledging that there probably were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, Bush justified his illegal war by pointing out Saddam Hussein's violence against his own people. He said that anyone who commits this type of atrocities should be stopped.

But will he ever mention Zimbabwe or Mugabe? Who wants to take some bets?

Unfortunately, I've been following the news from Zimbabwe for a few years now, and this does not come as a surprise. Mugabe has turned that poor country into hell on earth.

No, of course not, because Mugabe is only number..what? seven? on the worst-dictator's list (printed in Parade a couple of weeks ago). Forget the fact that he's turned the "bread basket of Africa" into a cash-strapped, hungry nation. That he's stripping people from their property and ignoring murders. Or that he put his nearest competitor into jail for treason. Or...a million other reasons he needs to be stopped. My sister knows someone who just "committed suicide" - two hours after discussing his honeymoon with his bride, and two days before his wedding. Grr!

Heck, Bush won't even do something against North Korea, and that guy has the capability of hitting the West Coast from his own country!

Bush probably didn't get past the comic in Parade, and he doesn't care about the west coast since California is a different country these days.

How, exactly, did Parade rate their ten worst dictators? Were they the ones who made exploitation of their own countries' resources by the US difficult while simultaneously having a bad human rights record?
